South-African by birth and married to an Englishman, I currently live in Kuwait and have previously lived in and explored a number of European locations. Being a permanent ex-pat, even when we’re back in the UK, is both a rewarding and complex way of life, especially when you have a child. One thing ex-pat life does afford us, though, is the chance to really experience the places we live in as we get to see more than the usual tourist destinations and deal with the minutiae of daily life. As a result of my experiences I’ve come to believe that if you just scratch the surface you will find something worth photographing and/or writing about. I try to learn as much as I can about the culture, people and food where ever I find myself and I always have a camera with me, even if it’s just my iPhone. Whilst living in Italy I contributed pieces to a Lifestyle website, ItalianNotebook.com, but it was whilst we were living in Germany that I started to focus more on my photographic work. You can follow me on Facebook or visit my website here.
